Mona L. (Nelson) Destrampe, age 42, of 314 South 10th Street, Escanaba, MI died Wednesday morning March 31, 2004 at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
Mona was born October 29, 1961 in Escanaba the daughter of Albert and Catherine (Stone) Nelson. She was raised in Escanaba and attended Escanaba Public Schools. Mona had owned her own cleaning service for many years and was most recently employed at Elmers Country Market in Escanaba.
Mona was a very social person who enjoyed fishing, camping and biking. She is also remembered as being a green thumb, taking an interest in various kinds of plants. Mona was known for being a wonderful cook. She was a Vikings fan as well as a Nascar fan, favoring Matt Kenseth car number 17. Mona especially enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews. She loved and lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, Mona was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Alberta Simmons and Dolly Nelson.
Monas family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 1:30 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Mona L. Destrampe will follow at 1:30P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Jonathan Schmidt of First Lutheran Church officiating. Luncheon will follow at First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Burial will take place at the Ogontz cemetery.
