Ruthann LaJoice, age 63, of 411 South 14th Street; Escanaba, died Monday, April 26th, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba following a brief illness.
Ruthann was born October 5th, 1940 in St. Ignace, MI, the daughter of Elmer and Madeline (Wisner) Johnston, was raised in the St. Ignace area and was a graduate of the St. Ignace High School.
She has lived in Escanaba for the last 24 years, relocating from the St. Ignace area in June of 1980. She married David E. LaJoice July 3rd, 1982 and he survives. Ruthann was employed at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba as a cook for 23 years, retiring, in 2003.
In her leisure, she enjoyed watching sports on television, including golf, baseball, and NASCAR. In addition, she also liked to sew.

2 Brothers-Donald Johnston of Carp River, MI; Wayne (Dixie) Johnston of Delton, MI
4 Sisters- Donna (Claude) Daniels of Cedarville, MI; Maxine Taylor of Carp River, MI; Shirley (Jim) Campbell of Carp River, MI; Karen (Louie) Trombley of the Carp River area
7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ruthann was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Johnston.
Out of convenience to her work family at St. Francis Hospital, visitation for Ruthann LaJoice will be held on Tuesday at the St. Francis Hospital Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Francis Hospital Chapel with Rev. Fr. Emmit Norden officiating. Burial will be in the Carp River Cemetery. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the LaJoice family.
