Kathleen (Kathy) Sue Collins 53, of 5235 19th Lane Gladstone died at home on Monday May 31, 2004 following a lengthily illness. She was born March 3, 1951 in Escanaba the daughter of Kenneth and Carol (Bergo) Sturdy and was a life long resident of this area.
Kathy was a 1969 graduate of the Escanaba High School and had attended Bay de Noc College. She had worked on the family mink ranch and was employed in the grocery industry for 26 years working for Red Owl, C & S Markets, Glenn’s Market and Super One Foods. Kathy had owned and operated World Wide Travel Services for a number of years before becoming an independent Insurance Agent, working with AFLAC.
She was a member of Teamsters Local #328 and a member of Holy Family Church of Flat Rock. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. But, her favorite time was spent with her two granddaughters, Mackenzie Collins and Ashley Sylvester.
Her passion was cooking for her family, her friends, for picnics, get together and holidays or when ever the opportunity presented itself. She loved to travel and see new places and try new foods where ever she went. She enjoyed trying different crafts and hobbies. When it came time for her to relax from the days work she would watch the food network on HGTV.
Kathy was a loving mother, grandmother and wife who lived for her children.
She leaves to survive her husband: Lynn whom she married May 26, 1970.

8 Sisters: Kim (Harry) Nelson of Cornell, Mich.; Kris (Mike) Wylie of Lansing, Mich.; Karen (Jeff) Marcoe of Seattle, Washington; Kelly (Ed) Sturdy Ridenour of Las Vages, Nevada; Kenlyn (Scott) Hubard of Marquette, Mich.; Karla (Mike) Beauchamp of Flat Rock, Mich.; Kara (Mark) Sturdy Skorski of Racine, Wisc.; Kandac Sturdy of Cincinnati, Ohio

Friends may call at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba on Friday June 4th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The evening will end with Parish Prayers at 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial for Kathy Collins will be held on Saturday June 5th at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Church in Flat Rock with Fr. Tom Schmied officiating. A lunch will follow in the church hall.
