Gordon Marshall

Gordon W. “Gordy” Marshall, age 80, of 422 Montana Ave.; Gladstone, died Monday, May 17, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba where he was a patient for the previous week.

Gordy was born October 30th, 1923 at St. Francis Hospital, the son of William and Tina (Anderson) Marshall in Escanaba and was a lifelong Gladstone resident and was a 1941 graduate of the Gladstone High School. Gordy entered military service with the US Army during World War II and served in the European Theater until his honorable discharge in 1946. H e later married the former Bernice E. Skoog in Escanaba and she survives.

Gordy was last employed at Harnischfeger Corp. in Escanaba from 1949 until its closure.

 He was a member of the Vintage Tin Association and the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post #71, the First Lutheran Church of Gladstone, and a former member of the musical group, “The Barbershoppers”.

In his leisure, Gordy enjoyed going to his camp, hunting, and in earlier years, building small boats.  He was always known as having a good sense of humor and a love of his family Gordy Marshall’s survivors include his loving wife, Bernice

5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Marshall and by one sister, Mildred DuRoy.

The family of Gordon W. “Gordy” Marshall will receive friends on Sunday at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Service celebrating Gordy’s life will follow on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Schmidt officiating. Luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes are assisting the Marshall family.
