Paul F. Cole, age 88, of 6005 Horseshoe 22.3 Drive; Gladstone (Escanaba Twp.) died unexpectantly Monday, June 28th,2004 at home of an apparent heart attack.
Paul was born June 9th, 1916 in Gladstone, the son of Henry and Katherine (Broeckaert) Cole and was a lifelong Gladstone area resident.
After his Gladstone High School graduation in 1935, he was employed for a period of time for the Buckeye Lumber Co. in Gladstone and later worked for the City of Gladstone for many years retiring from the Gladstone Power Plant as an operator.
Paul married the former Irene V. Baribeau on January 7th 1942 and she survives.
Paul was a member of Holy Family Church of Flat Rock and a former member of the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post #71.
In his early years, Paul enjoyed woodworking and made childrens furniture and toys which parents purchased for their children for Christmas in local stores. In addition, he was talented at horseshoes and enjoyed hunting, cribbage, and car traveling and was also known as a hard worker.
Paul Cole was the last of his generation of the Cole family.
His children and other family members have much respect for Paul, and he is fondly remembered by them through shared memories with one another. He was a great family man and would do absolutely anything for his family and was willing to help anyone who needed it.

3 Sons- Paul H. (Suzanne) Cole of Gladstone
James P. (Kathryn) Cole of Gladstone
Thomas J (Victoria) Cole of Green bay, WI
1 Daughter- Mary F. (Robert) Soper of Cornell
11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Anne Marie Cole, in 1966; and by a brother, Louis Cole.
The family of Paul F. Cole will receive friends on Thursday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 3:00 p.m. to 5:45p.m. with Military Rites being conducted at 5:45 p.m. by the Gladstone American Legion. Services celebrating Pauls life will follow on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev.Thomas Schmied, OFM.Cap. officiating. Luncheon will follow services on Thursday at the Gladstone Yacht Club. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery; Gladstone.
