John A. Johnson, age 91, of 8115 Squaw Creek Road 18 Road, Rapid River, died Tuesday morning June 22, 2004 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
John was born February 1, 1913, in Stonington, the son of John and Anna (Green) Johnson who preceded him in death. He was raised in Stonington and attended the Central School in Stonington. Following his years in school, John went to work for the W.P.A in Delta County. He worked for the W.P.A. for a number of years and on May 25, 1937, John married the former Irene Wicklund in Gladstone. Irene preceded John in death on October 6, 2001. Throughout the years, John was self-employed as a farmer. He also did carpentry work and worked in Oregon in the cranberry bogs harvesting cranberries. While in Oregon, John also worked for a sawmill. Johns hobbies included trapping, hunting and fishing, and gardening.

John leaves to survive: 1 Sister: Ruth Brandt of Rapid River, MI and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A private committal service for John A. Johnson will be held at the Bay de Noc Cemetery at the convenience of the Johnson family. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Johnson family with arrangements.
