Ruth C. Kozar, 84, of 4171 S.W. Floral Ct. Dunnellon, Florida and former Escanaba resident, died Wednesday morning June 9, 2004 at the Legacy Hospice House in Ocala, Florida, where she was a patient.
Ruth was born December 29, 1919 in Negaunee, MI the daughter of Jalmar and Phoebe (Johnson) Joki. Ruth was raised in Negaunee and in her adolescent years attended the Negaunee schools. Over the course of time, Ruth’s family relocated to the Escanaba area where Ruth attended and graduated from the Escanaba Senior High School. On January 17, 1941, Ruth married her husband James Kozar. During WWII, Ruth and James moved to Detroit, MI where they worked until eventually returning to Escanaba in 1947. Ruth and James made their home in Escanaba until their retirement. Following retirement, the couple relocated to Florida where they resided until present day.
Ruth enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting. While living in the Escanaba area, Ruth served as a member of the Alter Guild at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells. Ruth and James also enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the state of Florida.

Margaret Lewis of Mackinaw City, MI
Also surviving are many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
In addition to her parents Jalmar and Phoebe, Ruth is preceded in death by 1 Brother, Theodore Joki.
The Kozar family will be having a private visitation and funeral service at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba with Fr. Richard Schaeffer of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church officiating. Committal service for Ruth Cecelia Kozar will follow funeral services at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Kozar family with arrangements.
