Roger “SKIP” Williams, age 72, of 722 2nd Avenue South, Escanaba, died early morning June 24, 2004 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Skip was born May 10, 1932, in Escanaba, the son of Roger and Leah (Laviolette) Williams, who preceded him in death. He was raised in Escanaba and attended and graduated from the St. Joseph High School in 1950. Following graduation, Skip spent 1 year at the University of Michigan. He then transferred to Northern Michigan University for a period of time before transferring and attending the Alexian Bothers Hospital School of Nursing. Skip worked for 1 year at the Alexian Brothers Hospital School of Nursing and then went on to complete his education at the St. John’s School of Anesthesia. On June 22, 1966, Skip married the former Donna Line in Waukegan, Illinois. Following their marriage, Skip was drafted into the United States Army where he served for two years during the Vietnam Conflict. After his service in the Army, Skip and Donna relocated to the Escanaba area. Skip worked for St. Francis Hospital as a nurse anesthetist for many years. In his spare time, Skip enjoyed golfing.

Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Roger and Leah, Skip is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Betty and Mariam.
Family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial Celebrating the life of Roger “SKIP” Williams will follow visitation at 4:30PM at the St. Joseph St. Patrick Church in Escanaba with Fr. Francis Dobrzenski officiating. Luncheon will follow funeral service in the church parish hall. Committal service for Skip will be on Tuesday at 11:30AM at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Williams family with arrangements.
