Harold Joseph Artley, age 87, of 8723 H Road, Cornell, died early Wednesday morning August 18, 2004 following a lengthy illness.
Harold was born April 19, 1917, in Gladstone, the son of Frank and Anna (Gagnon) Artley. He was raised in the Gladstone area and attended the All Saints Catholic School. Following his years in school and at the age of 18 years, Harold moved to the Cornell area where he worked as a dairy farmer. Harold was married to Arlene Artley. In October of 1980, Harold married the former Ruth Hasselbach. The couple remained in the Cornell area and Harold worked for the Caspian Construction Company in Marquette for 7 years. Following his years of work at the Caspian Construction Company, Harold continued to work construction for the Chenier Construction Company until finally retiring at the age of 62 years. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball. He also enjoyed dairy farming and working in the woods. Harold will be deeply missed.

3 Sisters: Alice Ericksen of Gladstone, MI, Mildred Thornson of Rapid River, MI, Norma Calvey of Gladstone, MI
Survivors also include: 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Harold in death are: His parents, Frank and Anna and his first wife, Arlene.

A memorial service, to celebrate the life of Harold Joseph Artley, will be held on Saturday from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at the Soo Hill Community Church in Soo Hill. Funeral service will follow at 2:00PM with Rev. Dave Hagen officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. |
