James “Jim” I. Kozar, age 85 of 4171 S.W. Floral Ct., Dunnellon, Florida and former Escanaba resident, died Monday August 2, 2004 at his home in Dunnellon.
James was born March 03, 1919, in Escanaba, the son of Ignace and Barbara (Smokovich) Kozar, who preceded him in death. James was raised in the Escanaba area and attended the Escanaba schools. On January 17, 1941, James married the former Ruth Joki in Escanaba. Together the couple relocated to the Detroit area where they worked during the WWII era until eventually making their way back to Escanaba in 1947. James then worked for the Mead Paper Corporation until retiring in 1980 and relocating to the Florida area. James enjoyed gardening and was a Charter member and also a member of the Mead Rod and Gun Club.

2 Daughters: Barbara Kozar of Henderson, NV, Beverly Clark of Las Vegas, NV
5 Brothers: Frank (Antoinette) Kozar of Taylor, MI, Joe (Helen) Kozar of Shingle Springs, CA, Rudy (Mary Ann) Kozar of Escanaba, MI, Steve Kozar of Escanaba, MI, Tony (Tim) Kozar of Rancho Cucamonga, CA
1 Sister: Mildred Kozar of Milwaukee, WI
Survivors also include, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Ignace and Barbara, James was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ruth, and 1 brother George.
Family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral service celebrating the life of James I. Kozar will follow visitation at 1:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Fr. Rick Courier of the St. Thomas/ St. Anthony Catholic Church officiating. Committal services will be held at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells following funeral services. |
