Marilyn “Mickey” LaPlant, age 72, of 220 Michigan Avenue, Gladstone, MI died Saturday morning August 14, 2004 at home following a lengthy illness.
Mickey was born May 19, 1932, in Gladstone the daughter of Marshall and Roberta “Robbie” (Archambear) Lancrete, who preceded her in death. She attended and graduated from the Gladstone High School in 1950. In 1952, Mickey married Lawrence LaPlant and the couple made their home in Gladstone and were lifelong residents of the Gladstone area. Mickey was an active member of the All Saints Church in Gladstone where she served as a eucharistic minister and volunteered her time for many church functions. Mickey enjoyed life in many ways. She especially loved spending time at the family camp in Ensign, being with her family and friends, and making occasional trips to the casino.
Mickey is survived by her husband Larry; her two children, Tim (Ann) LaPlant of Big Rapids, MI, Cindy (Gary) Groop of Blue Water Bay, Florida
Three grandchildren, Aubrey Groop, Tom LaFluer and Jason LaPlant; one brother, Charles Lancrete of Richfield, MN and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mickey’s family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 6:50 P.M. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial services for Mickey will follow at 7:00 P.M. at All
Saints Church with Rev. Arnold Grambow officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone. Memorial contributions in memory of Mickey may be directed to Marquette General Hospice or to the A.L.S. Foundation.
