Granville McMains

Granville “Gran” McMains, age 77, of 5865 29th Lane, Gladstone, died early August 27, 2004 at his home in Brampton following a battle with cancer.

Granville was born November 3, 1926 in Detroit the son of Joseph and Clara (Rissmann) McMains who preceded him in death. Granville was raised in the Detroit area and attended the Detroit schools. He had served in the Merchant Marines. Granville married the former Corrine “Greta” Peterson on June 5, 1948. He worked for the Cross Company in Frazier, MI for 32 years before retiring in 1983. In 1985, the couple relocated to the Brampton area where they made their home until present day. Granville was a member of the Masonic Lodge #396 of Gladstone and was also a life long member of the Sons of Norway Lodge. Granville and his wife Greta were also members of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Perkins.

Gran was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time at his camp. He loved playing cards with the Monday night Perkins group and at the Perkins Senior Center. He was a devoted Detroit Lions fan and enjoyed going to the casino.

Survivors include: His wife of 56 years, Greta.
Also surviving are 2 daughters: Linnea Ann (Charles) Naebers of New Baltimore, MI and Laura J. Tuer of Brampton, MI, 7 grandchildren: Joseph Naebers of New Baltimore, MI, Janet (Roman) Gieraga of Algonac, MI, Julie (Walter) Grass of Algonac, MI, Corrie (Bill) Scheeneman of Flat Rock, MI, Jeffery S. Tuer of Escanaba, Craig Jr. and Kevin Tuer of Michigan, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Granville was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara.

Masonic services conducted by Gladstone Masonic Lodge #386 will be held on Saturday September 4, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. Funeral services celebrating the life of Granville “Gran” McMains will follow wth Rev. Jonathan Schmidt of First Lutheran Church in Gladstone officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Marquette General Hospice and Home Health Care.
