Marshall L. Benney Jr. age 66, of 816 Dakota Avenue, Gladstone, MI died Wednesday September 29, 2004 at the Marquette General Hospital in Marquette.
Marshall was born November 11, 1937 in Appleton, WI the son of Marshall L. and Mae (Webb) Benney. He was raised in the Detroit area and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1965. He had worked as a computer programmer/analyst in Lower Michigan. Marshall was united in marriage to the former Georgia Craze on August 19, 1967 and they relocated to Gladstone in 1984 with their children.
Marshall was the District 3 Distribution Manager for the Michigan Liquor Control Commission, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Gladstone Masonic Lodge #396 F&AM and other Masonic groups.
In addition to his wife Georgia, survivors include:
1 son: Alexis (Barbara Binder) Benney of Milwaukee, WI, 2 daughters: Rhonda Murphy of Mayfield, Kentucky, Stephanie (Kevin) Dutkavich of Eau Claire, WI
1 Sister: Beverly (Thomas) Shelby of Fairgrove, MI
7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Numerous nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by: 1 brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Jane Benney, and 1 niece and nephew.
Marshall’s family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Masonic services will follow at 3:00 P.M. Funeral services celebrating the life of Marshall L. Benney Jr. will follow with Rev. David Hagen officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Marshall may be directed to the Marquette General Hospital Foundation-Cancer Research Department or to the family for a Masonic youth program to be established, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
