David LaPointe

David Allen “Smokey” LaPointe, age 53, of 522 South 31st Street, Escanaba, died unexpectedly September 5, 2004 at his cottage in Little Lake of an apparent heart attack.
David was born May 5, 1951 in Marinette, WI the son of Joseph and Luella (Raygo) LaPointe. He was raised in the Marinette/Menominee area and attended the Menominee schools. Throughout his life, David worked for the Badger Paper Mill in Peshtigo, WI, and the Chrysler Corporation in Florida and Detroit. David eventually relocated to the Escanaba area where his friends and co-workers at the Mead Paper Corporation knew him as “Quazz”. David worked for Mead for the past 23 years. On October 5, 2002, David married his soul mate, the former Doris Eagle in the Smokey Mountains of Gatlinburg, TN. David is remembered for his love of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle. In his younger years, David refurbished and built his own Harley-Davidson in his upstairs apartment where friends encouraged him to ride the motorcycle down the stairs. Needless to say, it took several of his friends to help him carry the motorcycle to the street below. David also enjoyed, fishing, camping and woodworking. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and cousins.
The LaPointe family will receive friends on Wednesday at 3:00PM, for funeral services, at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba, with Pastor Robert Derheim of the Assembly of God Church officiating. |
