Thomas Fay

Died October 24, 2004

Thomas P. Fay, age 84, of the Christian Park Village in Escanaba (formerly of Country Acres in Gladstone) died Sunday morning October 24, 2004 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba where he was a resident.

Thomas was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and he served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945. While serving in the U.S. Army Air Force he was stationed in Tunisia in the European Air Offensive. He was honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in1945 and he received the EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Ribbon. Following his duty in the service he returned to Delta County and was united in marriage to the former Carrie M. Breitzman on December 4, 1948 in Rapid River. He had worked at Morley Murphy in Escanaba in the early 1950’s until its closing. They moved to Toledo, Ohio where he retired from the City of Toledo where he worked in the accounting department. He returned to Delta County and resided at the Country Acres until 2003 when he moved to the Christian Park Village.

Thomas was a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone and a Life Member of the Rapid River Walter W. Cole Post #301 American Legion. His hobbies included playing cards, cribbage, working crossword puzzles and watching game shows. He enjoyed watching football and baseball and was an avid Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Team fan.

Survivors include:

2 Step Daughters: Dolores (Donald) Cousineau of Escanaba, Gwendolyn Rushford of Rapid River

Numerous Step: Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by:
His wife Carrie on August 4, 1992
Step Children: Vernon Gilland, Carroll Gilland, Bernard Gilland, Donald Gilland, Eunice M. Wils. Step Grandson: Michael Rushford

The Fay family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. to 5:45 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Walter W. Cole Post #301 Military Rites will follow at 5:45 P.M. Funeral services celebrating the life of Thomas P. Fay will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Grambow of All Saints Church officiating. Luncheon will follow in the All Saints Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at Rapid River Cemetery in Rapid River.
