June Heslip, age 90, life long Brampton area resident, died Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
June was born June 4, 1914, in Gladstone, the daughter of William and Dora (McKnight) Stewart. She was raised in the Gladstone/Brampton area and attended the Gladstone-Buckeye schools. In 1938, June married her husband Albert Heslip in Gladstone and the couple made their residence in the Brampton area where they raised their family. Albert preceded June in death in 1986. June worked for 27 years at the Pine Haven Rest Home in Gladstone as a nurse’s aide and cook. June enjoyed caring for the patients at the Pine Haven Rest Home and is remembered for extending her care to the patients even after her retirement. June belonged to the Riverside 7th Day Adventist Church in Rapid River. She loved going to church activities and would often bring along her friends. June also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include:
3 Sons: Tom (Janelle) Heslip of Marquette, MI, James Heslip of Brampton, MI, Grant (Patty) Heslip of Escanaba, MI
1 Daughter: Sherry Heslip of Angier, NC
Also surviving are numerous Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
In addition to her parents, William and Dora, and her husband, Albert, June is preceded in death by:
1 Daughter: Gail Dieter on May 13, 1973
2 Sons: Bruce Heslip on May 4, 1973, Dennis Heslip on May 31, 1990
1 Brother: Bob Hartley
2 Sisters: Florence Constantino, Inez Gerou
A memorial service celebrating the life of June Heslip will be held at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone, at the convenience of the Heslip family, with Pastor Brandon Korter of the 7th Day Adventist Church officiating. Committal will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. Memorial contribution to honor June Heslip may be directed to the Riverside 7th Day Adventist Church, South 15 Road, Rapid River, MI 49878. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Heslip family with arrangements.
