Died October 19, 2004

Donald Robert McInnis, age 67, of 6645 Patricia O pt 07 Street, Wells, MI passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday evening October 19, 2004 surrounded by his family.

He was born November 10,1936, in Spaulding, Michigan, to Stanley and Lillian (Poquette) McInnis. As a boy, Don enjoyed the outdoors, working in the woods alongside his father, like the long line woodsman before them. He attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, and recieved a Pharmacy degree in 1959. Don became a champion skeet shooter and an avid hunter in his young adulthood. The first position he held as a pharmacist was at Pendill Drug in Marquette, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Carol (LaCrosse). They married on October 16,1965, and spent a year as newlyweds in Deer Track Village before the birth of their first daughter, Susan. They soon moved to Escanaba, where Don had accepted positions at Pryall Drug and Doctorís Park. Another daughter arrived, Mary (Meyer), then Don Built a home with his own hands for his budding family in Wells. Two more daughters followed--Anne and Amy (Norkus).

On Sundays, Don and his family filled a pew at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He also found time to hunt, fish, and compete in prestigious "Oldtimer's" Leagues in Basketball and Softball (Grace Baptist and White Birch Tavern), while being a loving and amusing husband and father. Don suffered a stroke at age 50, and retired from his career in pharmacy with newfound time for toiling in his envied garden, fishing, reading, and solving crosseord puzzles, and restoring antique rifles. He was known for his cribbage and Scrabble prowess throughout the Wawirka Subdivision. In November of 2003, Don was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, and spent the remainder of his life with friends and family nearby.
