Germaine M. Pineau, age 93, former Rapid River and Gladstone area resident, died Sunday, October 10th, 2004 at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba where she was currently residing as a patient.
Germaine was born March 28thth, 1911 in Gladstone, the daughter of Camiel and Mary (Lootens) Minne. She was raised in Gladstone and was a 1928 graduate of the Gladstone High School. In1944, Germaine married Angus J. Pineau at All Saints Church in Gladstone and together they owned and operated their own farm in the Rapid River area from 1944 until their retirement in 1980. She was also employed for Baybank in Gladstone as a book-keeper and stenographer for 17 years. After their retirement, Germaine and Angus returned to Gladstone where they resided since. Angus preceded her in death June 9th, 1984.
Germaine’s family considered her a great cook and she enjoyed to crochet and her family has many mementoes of her crocheting abilities. Her and her husband were also pioneers in the founding of the Gladstone Yacht Club and the Gladstone Ski and Golf Club.
In addition to having a deep love of their mother, her children have a profound and everlasting respect for her that will never be forgotten by them.
Germaine M. Pineau’s survivor’s include:
3 Sons- Charles Pineau of St. Louis, MO; Paul (Diane) Pineau of Ford River; Thomas (Mary) Pineau of Easton, Kansas
1 Daughter- Sarah Alloway of Palm City, FLA
10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her loving husband, Angus, she was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters which include 2 brothers, George and Arthur Minne, and 2 sisters, Melvina Van de Putte and Cyrilla Minne.
The immediate family of Germaine Pineau will have a private visitation on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home Gladstone. However, a public Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Rapid River with Rev. Fr. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Burial will be in the Rapid River Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Christian Park Village in Escanaba for the wonderful care and sincere kindnesses they have shown Germaine through the years. Their consideration to her will never be forgotten by them. |
