Mary Wilfong

Died October 30, 2004

Mary L. Wilfong, age 80, of Northwoods Assisted Living in Escanaba, died Saturday evening, October 30th, 2004 at Northwoods following a lengthy illness.

Mary was born September 25th, 1924 in Powers, MI, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Brinn) Wilfong and was raised in the Powers area. She was a 1941 graduate of the Powers-Spaulding High School and was valedictorian of her class.

Mary later relocated to Gladstone in 1943 and attended the Cloverland Commercial College in Escanaba where she received a degree in business administration. She was employed as a book-keeper for much of her working life, having worked in Delta County and later in Milwaukee for many years. Mary returned to Escanaba in 2003 to reside closer to her family.

Mary Wilfong is a devout Roman Catholic and is currently a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Escanaba. In her leisure, she enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. Her family has many fond and loving memories of Mary and she will be sadly missed by them.

2 Sisters- Joyce Borden of Gladstone

                Betty Weimer of Jackson, MI

and by numerous nieces and nephews, and also by a special friend, Anna Mae Frazer, of Powers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances Wilfong and Eileen Jawson, and by brothers-in-law; Joseph Jawson, Harold Weimer, and Charles Borden.

The family of Mary L. Wilfong will receive friends on Wednesday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier officiating. Luncheon will follow services in the church parish hall. Burial will in the Powers-Spaulding Township Cemetery on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. EST. The family respectfully requests memorials in her memory be directed to the Escanaba St. Vincent de Paul Society. Memorial envelopes will be available at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home.
