Michael James McMartin, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Osceola, WI, died on Wednesday, December 22, at the age of 75.
Michael was born July 27, 1929, in Escanaba, MI, the son of Richard F and Frances (Urich) McMartin. He was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Escanaba. He later joined the U.S. Army, where he served two tours in Korea and earned a Purple Heart while losing a limb in the conflict. A proud patriot, he was a life long member of the DAV and the American Legion. Michael began his career at the Harnischfeger Corporation, in Escanaba, as a crane operator. He became a manufacturing engineer and worked for FMC Linkbelt in both Charleston, WV and Indianapolis, IND. He retired from Warner Electric, Rockton, IL in 1992, after 21 years in engineering. Michael later moved to Clinton, WI and then relocated upon retirement to Minong, WI. His hobbies include, woodworking, and fishing. He was and avid fan of his son’s and grandson’s sports coaching and participation.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his siblings; Frances Robitalle, Richard McMartin and Patrick J. McMartin.
Survivors include: His wife Pauline L. (Waeghe) of Osceola, WI
1 Daughter: Paula McMartin of Janesville, WI
3 Sons: Michael P. (Bonnie) McMartin of Osceola, WI; Brian P. (Cindy) McMartin of Pella, IA; James R. (Julie) McMartin of Avalon, WI
Survivors also include, 8 grandchildren: Kyle, Allx and Katie McMartin of Osceola, WI, Megan, Luke and Michael McMartin of Pella, IA, and Jalen, and Jeneva McMartin of Avalon, WI.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Michael McMartin will follow visitation on Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow at the All Saints Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The McMartin family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Golden Age Manor of Amery, WI or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the McMartin Family with all arrangements. |
