Kenneth L. Meyer, age 62, of 9014 Stagecoach Q.5 Avenue; Gladstone, died Saturday November 27th, 2004 at home surrounded by his wife and family.
Ken was born October14th, 1942 in Escanaba the son of Lawrence and Helen (Janchenko) Meyer and attended the Escanaba School System and subsequently worked for McMahon Brothers in Iron River for 4 years. Ken married the former Joyce MacKenzie June 2nd, 1962 at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone. After being drafted into military service in 1966, he served in the US Army in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1968.
When he returned to Delta County, Ken began his 32 year career with Bark River Culvert in Escanaba as a mechanic and service man in with their heavy equipment operations.
Ken enjoyed his mechanical work all his working life and was noted for his amazing mechanical abilities. He was a perfectionist in his field at work as well with automotive equipment at home or with his favorite truck.
Ken was also a devoted and avid hunter and his sense of humor was apparent to all who knew him. However, his family was his life, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Joyce, Kenneth Meyer’s survivors include:
1 Son-Scott (Lindsay) Meyer of Gladstone
2 Daughters-Julie Meyer of Hancock, Sherrie (Brian) Jacobi of Gladstone
His father, Larry Meyer, of Escanaba
3 Brothers- Robert (Karen) Meyer of Escanaba, Terry (Christine) Meyer of New Berlin, WI, Dale (Jean) Meyer of Kingsford
2 Sisters- Lynne Hills of Phoenix, AZ , June Ferrara of Mesa, AZ
3 grandchildren, Shaelyn Meyer, Brennan Jacobi, and a baby to arrive in June to Scott and Lindsay Meyer. and nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother Helen Meyer, October 10th, 2004.
The family of Kenneth L. Meyer will receive friends on Wednesday at the Memorial United Methodist Church located at 1910 Lake Shore Drive; Gladstone from 3: 00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services celebrating Ken’s life will follow on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Joanne Bartelt officiating. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Meyer family. |
