Charles W. “Charlie” Young, of Gladstone, MI passed away into eternal rest December 30, 2004 at the age of 91.
Charlie was born in Rapid River on November 22, 1913 to Charles and Elizabeth (Martin) Young. He was raised in Perkins and also lived in Rock before moving to Gladstone in 1967. During his life he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for 2 ? years, he worked as a woodsman and in 1978 retired from the Chicago Northwest Railroad after 26 years. Charlie was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening and camping. Charlie enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and he loved picking blueberries.
In 1937 he married Loretta Johnson who survives.
Survivors also include: 1 son, Robert L. Young Sr. of Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Harriet Granholm and Joy Gazlay of Gladstone, MI; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Betty) Young Jr. of Gladstone, MI, Jacqueline (Brian) Mineau of Lancaster, CA, Chester Young of Little Chute, WI, and Judith Young of Hephzibah, GA; 5 great grandchildren, Erin and Matthew Mineau, Clinton Peltier-Young and Savanna and Devin Young; Several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Charlie was preceded in death by 1 brother, Edwin Young.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Charles W. Young will follow visitation at 3:00PM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow of All Saints Church officiating. Luncheon will follow in the All Saints Church Parish Hall. Committal will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Young Family with all arrangements.e |
