Rachel M.Groos, 94, of 2900 3rd Ave. South Escanaba died on Friday January 7, 2005 at the Bishop Noa Home where she had been residing since 1998.
She was born November 1,1910 in Escanaba, the daughter of Aguila and Delia (Chartre) Godin and was a 1927 Graduate of the Escanaba High School. Rachel was married to Clinton Groos May 8,1934, he preceded her in death in April 1982, She had been a musician all her life and played the piano and sang for the nursing homes in this area. She had also played and entertained at the former Shakeys Pizza Parlor for 13 years and had been the church organist for St. Anthonyís Church in Wells.
Rachel was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the American Legion Aux., the Disabled American Vets. Aux., Retired member of the Senior Volunteer Program and a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Wells.
She leaves to survive :
1 Daughter: Rosemary Ann (Daniel) Juchemich of Negaunee Twp.
1 Son: Thomas Groos of Escanaba
4 Grandchildren:Shane,Michelle,Dan ìBuckyî(Melanie), and Bryan
1 Great Grandchild: Libert Rain
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Clinton , 1 son: Jerry in 1976, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Friends may call at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba on Thursday from 3:30 to 6:00PM. Parish Prayers will be recieted at 3:30 PM. Funeral services celebrating the life of Rachel Groos will be held 6:30 PM Thursday at St, Anthonyís Church in Wells with Fr. Robb Jurkovich officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring. |
