Gayle Katarincic
Resided in Gladstone, MI
Died January 8, 2005

Gayle L. Katarincic, age 72, devoted wife, mother, and Christian went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 8th, 2005. Gayle lived at 1622 Montana Ave.; Gladstone but had been residing at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba for the past month. Gayle was born March 20th, 1932 to Charles and Janie (Belanger) DuRoy. Gayle has endured many medical hardships in the last months of her life but through her struggles, her faith never faltered and she kept her sense of humor even during her last days.

She was a 1950 graduate of the Gladstone High School. Gayle married John E. Katarincic January 19th, 1952 in Lakewood, Ohio. John was an engineer on the ore boats which kept him away from home for months at a time and when they had children, Gayle was a stay-at-home mom. She did a fantastic job of raising their children. After John retired, she became a Fuller Brush Representative until failing eyesight made continuing in that capacity too difficult for her. In recent times, Gayle could be seen working at her daughter and son-in-law’s “Dollar Value Store” in Gladstone where she loved visiting with customers.

Gayle Katarincic was a member of the Bethel Evangelical Church in Gladstone and when it disbanded, she later became a member of the New Horizons Ministry where she had recently sat on the “Board of Administration”. She also was a member of the “Ladies Monday Night Bible Study”.

Gayle was an excellent cook specializing in homemade soups and desserts. At Christmas time, she always made a walnut swirl Croatian cake-bread called “povitica”. In addition, she liked to crochet, watch games shows on television, and collect penguins.  She also made all of her daughter’s prom dresses.

Gayle loved her family very much and was loved in return. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Family and friends remember her willingness to help anyone in anyway that she could.
