Anthony Weber Jr.

Anthony (Tony) Phillip Weber Jr. , of 1062 H-Way M-35, Bark River, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 30,2005.

He was born in Houghton, Michigan on July 30,1945. He spent his childhood in Hobart, Indiana, Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania and Griffith, Indiana. He was a graduate from Griffith High School in 1963. Tony earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University Calumet in 1967. He worked as an Industrial Engineer at U.S.Steel in Gary, Indiana. Tony was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War from 1969 to 1971. He returned to U.S.Steel until 1976. That year, he moved to Escanaba, Michigan in search of a better environment and a more meaningful life. He found both.

Tony lived in a cozy Cabin along the shore of Green Bay. He joined the wonderful staff at the Community Action Agency where he spent 26 years helping individuals with the agency’s assistance programs. His last position was as Account Manager.

He will be missed by his Mother and Father: Marilyn Joyce and Tony Weber Sr. of Escanaba

2 Sisters: Lynn and Dale Pruitt of Valpariso, Indiana; Kerry and Keith Oldewurtel of Grand Rapids, Michigan

Nieces: Elizabeth (Karl) Wight of Valpariso, Indiana; Jessica Chandler of Chesterton, Indiana; Kate Oldewurtel of Grand Rapids, Michigan

Nephews: Thomas Pruitt Jr. of Valpariso, Indiana; Jackson Oldewurtel of Grand Rapids, Michigan

Tony will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, love of nature, fondness of gourmet food, gentle heart and personal style.

Friends may call at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba on Wednesday, February 2nd from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services celebrating the life of Tony Weber Jr. will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 6:00 PM with Pastor Lee MacInnes  of the Ford River Community Chapel officiating. Burial will be in the Bark River Cemetery. Memorials in his name should be directed to: the Community Action Agency - Emergency  Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
