Mike was born September 29, 1906, in Milwaukee, WI, the second oldest of 8 children, to Michael and Antonia (Jakovich) Stemac, who preceded him in death. As a child, Mike was raised in the Upper Peninsula and Gladstone area and attended the All Saints Catholic Schools. Mike married the former Nora Bryson on June 29, 1935. Nora preceded Mike in death in 1977. Throughout his life, Mike worked at the Atlas Plywood Company and in his younger years for the Buckeye Veneer Mill. Mike is remembered for always having a second job doing carpentry, roofing and cutting pulpwood. He built two homes over the years, doing his own foundation, plumbing and electrical work. He helped his son Michael with the building of his home, he built a camp with his sons and more recently, Mike supervised the building of his son Bob’s camp.
