Dennis P. McArthey, age 60, of 2721 Parkway Court, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, died Monday, March 14th,2005, at Harmony House in Wisconsin Rapids where he a resident for the previous six months.
Dennis was born February 14th, 1945 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the son of Byron and Leone (LeDuc) McArthey and was raised in Escanaba. After his graduation from Holy Name High School, he attended Bay de Noc Community College before receiving his BA degree from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan in 1968. Dennis continued his education throughout his life, and obtained his accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin; Madison and he also achieved his credentials as a CPA and CMA.
In 1968, Dennis entered the US Army as an Airborne Ranger serving in Vietnam and was later honorably discharged in 1971 as a First Lieutenant after receiving numerous medals and citations.
He married the former Glenda B. Thill June 19th, 1971 in Fayette, Michigan.
After his marriage, Dennis was employed with the Citizens State Bank in Shawano, Wisconsin as a loan officer before relocating to Beaver Dam, Wisconsin working at Kraft Foods. He subsequently continued his career with Wisconsin Rapids Great Northern Nekoosa Papers where he held several management positions until his move to Phillips Plastics as a corporate comptroller until his retirement for health purposes.
Having been an avid outdoorsman, Dennis was a most enthusiastic fly-fisherman. He additionally enjoyed rabbit hunting with his dog “Max” and was fond of bird hunting, skeet shooting, camping, and canoeing. His cabin in Phillips, Wisconsin gave him years of happiness along with his faithful dog, “Clancy”.
In addition to his wife, Glenda, Dennis McArthey’s survivors include:
2 Daughters- Colleen McArthey of Cape Coral, Florida; Kathleen “Mollie” McArthey of Green Bay, Wisconsin
1 Brother- Michael (Carrie) McArthey of Milwaukee
and 3 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Leone McArthey.
The family of Dennis P. McArthey will receive friends on Thursday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Military Rites will be conducted by the Delta County Veterans Council at 5:00 p.m. Services celebrating Dennis’s life will follow with Deacon William Hemes officiating. Luncheon will follow services at the “House of Ludington” in Escanaba. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery; Escanaba. The McArthey family respectfully requests memorials in Dennis’s behalf be directed to the Holy Name School or a charity of choice and envelopes will be available at the Skradski-Boyce Funerals. |
