Helen A. Rickel 72, of 420 South 16th Street, Escanaba, died Monday April 18,2005 at home in Escanaba surrounded by her family. She was born April 19,1932 in Perronville, Mich. the daughter of Benjamin E. and Anna (Sape) Orzel and was married to John R. Rickel on August 20,1949 from St. Michael’s Church in Perronville.

She was the keeper of all of the family secrets and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and reading. Helen had a great love for her family and enjoyed all of her childrens and grandchildres activities. She was a member of St. Anne Church.

She leaves to survive her husband of 55 years, John.

1 son: Ron (Cheri) Rickel of Pembine, Wisc.

2 daughters: Susan (Jeffrey) Bratonia of Rapid River, Mich.; Sandra (John) Parrotta of Rapid River, Mich.

3 brothers: Thomas (Bernice) Orzel; Ken (Karen) Orzel; James (Sandy) Orzel all of Escanaba

1 sister: Kathy Raminger of Escanaba

15 Grandchildren; 5 Great Grandchildren; Many nieces , nephews and cousins

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 grandchild: Shawn Marie Stayton.

Freinds may call at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral Services for Helen Rickel will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 PM with Fr. Mike Steber officiating. A visitation will continue after the service until 6:00 PM. Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery on Saturday at 10:00 AM. A lunch will be served at St. Anne Church Hall following the visitation on Friday.
