Clarice L. Ackerman, age 86, of 12645 Old M-35; Rock, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, May 28, 2005, at home of an apparent heart attack.
Clarice was born March 16, 1919 at the family farm in Rock, the daughter of Albert and Stella (Johnson) Norden. She graduated Rock High School and later attended nursing school in Marinette, Wisconsin. While in Marinette, she met Roy B. Ackerman, and they later married November 22nd, 1941 at her parent’s residence in Rock.
Together, they had resided and worked in Chicago, Waukegan, and Springfield, Illinois. They returned to the Rock area after their retirement in the mid 1970’s. Roy Ackerman died December 3rd, 1993.
Clarice was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Rock and had served on the church council for a number of years. She was also a member of the ELCW.
She was well known by family and friends as a collector of chicken paraphernalia including lamps, plates, towels and the like. Additionally, she enjoyed crocheting, working word-search puzzles, and she was an avid reader as well. Clarice always kept up on current events and was a fun-loving person who took great interest in life and family.

4 Sisters- Doris Johnson of Rock; Sandra Carlson of Kenosha, WI; Lois (Roy) Curtis of Rapid River; Erma Turunen of Waukegan, IL
Son-in-law, Leonard Kemp of Springfield, IL
4 Grandchildren- Jeremy Reese of Rock; Michael, Kevin, and David Kemp, all of Springfield, IL
Great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Roy, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Della Kemp, a grandchild, Terri Kemp, and by five brothers, Clarence, Alph, Ronald, Richard, and Robert Norden.
The family of Clarice L. Ackerman will receive friends on Wednesday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Services celebrating Clarice’s life will follow at 12:00 Noon Wednesday at the Faith Lutheran Church in Rock with Rev. Jonathan Schmidt and Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Perkins Cemetery. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Norden family.
