Helen I. Wnuck, age 85, of 23241 Via Calisero Valencia, CA and former Gladstone/Rapid River resident, died Saturday morning November 27, 2004 at her home in California.
Helen was born June 30, 1919, in Kipling, MI, the daughter of John and Clara (Rottscholl) Tackman. She was raised in the Kipling area and attended and graduated from the Gladstone schools. On May 3, 1941, Helen married Charles W. Wnuck Jr. and together the couple worked side by side raising their family and working on the family farm in Rapid River. Helen and Charles remained in Rapid River until moving to the Gladstone area in 1968. Throughout Helen’s life she worked with her husband Charles in the concrete and timber business and also as a housekeeper in Gladstone. Charles preceded Helen in death on February 10, 1975. Helen stayed in Gladstone until 1982, at which time, she relocated to Green Bay for a couple of years before eventually moving to California where she resided for the remainder of her life. Helen was a member of the St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rapid River and later was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Helen enjoyed football, basketball, canning and gardening and in her earlier years she liked to attend her son Charles’ sporting events. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and will be deeply missed.

2 Sons: Frank (Carolyn) Wnuck of DePere, WI; Charles Wnuck of Loveland, OH
2 Daughters: Helen Ann (Hank) Jason of Valencia, CA; Christine Stone of Vacaville, CA
2 Sisters: Ruth Cornell of Gladstone, MI; Hazel Stromberg of Wilmette, IL
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel Stone, Justin and Andrea Wnuck and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, John and Clara and her husband Charles, 1 brother, Raymond Tackman and 1 infant son John Charles preceded Helen in death.
A memorial service to honor the life of Helen I. Wnuck will be held on Friday May 13, 2005 at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gladstone at 2:00PM with Pastor Phil Paustian officiating. Committal will be in the Rapid River Cemetery. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Wnuck family with arrangements.
