Robert Schramm

Robert E. “Bob” Schramm, age 70, of Rapid River died Saturday morning June 4, 2005 at home in his sleep of an apparent heart attack.

Robert was born February 27, 1935 in Escanaba the son of the late Randolph and Doris (Anderson) Schramm. He was raised in Escanaba and Rapid River and he was a 1953 graduate of Rapid River High School. Bob married the former Geraldine “Geri” Desotell on September 3, 1955 at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone. They made their residence in Rapid River where they raised their four children. Bob was employed with Harnischfeger Corporation for 30 years until its closure in 1984. He went on to work for Anderson Lumber in Rapid River and retired from 41 Lumber in 2000.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his 4-wheeler. He also enjoyed playing cards and coffee clutching with his buddies. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, Detroit Redwings and the Detroit Pistons.

In addition to his wife Geri, survivors include:

Kathy (Terry) Kowaleski of Lake Orion, MI
Lisa (Jim) Tredeau of Kipling
Gina (Mike Kuehl) Schramm of Rapid River
1 Brother: Terry (Roxanne) Schramm of Rapid River
1 Sister: Gayle (Dave) Moras of Escanaba
3 Grandchildren: Brianna and Emily Schramm of Shawano,
WI and Kaitlin Kowaleski of Lake Orion, MI
1 Uncle: George C. (Inga) Anderson of Escanaba
1 Aunt: Claris Lorenson of Escanaba
4 Nephews, several cousins and his dog Daisy

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant sister Diane.

Bob’s family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert E. Schramm will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Gauger of Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River officiating.

Luncheon will follow services at the Calvary Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Rapid River. Burial will be in Rapid River Cemetery.
