Dale Hardwick

Died July 23, 2005

Dale Richard “Gramps” Hardwick, age 51, of Manistique and former Rapid River area resident, died at his home in Manistique on July 23, 2005.

Dale was born September 19, 1953, in Nahma, the son of Archie and Alva (Feathers) Hardwick.  He was raised in Nahma and attended the Rapid River schools as well as the Big Bay de Noc schools.  Following school, Dale entered the United States Army, serving from 1972 to 1974.  Following his years in the Army and on August 20, 1974, Dale married the former Carol Robitaille in Escanaba.  Together the couple made their home in the Rapid River area.  Carol preceded Dale in death on February 29, 2000.  Throughout the years, Dale worked as a self- employed auto mechanic and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and beadwork.  Dale was also a long time member of the Sault American Indian Tribe. 

Survivors include:

1 Daughter:  Brandy Hardwick of Oxford, MI

2 Brothers:  Ivan (Laurie) Hardwick of Rapid River, MI; Gary Hardwick of Bellingham, WA

5 Sisters:  Linda Tragazanos of TN; Darlene (Jerry) Wilson of Rapid River, MI; Roseanna Johnson of Rapid River, MI; Kathy (Kelvin) Dahn of Gladstone, MI; Janice Hardwick of Greenwood, WI

3 Grandchildren:  Michelle, Nicole and Audrey

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

In addition to his parents, Archie and Alva (Feathers) Hardwick, and his wife Carol, Dale was preceded in death by:

2 Brothers:  Donald and Gerald Sr. Hardwick

1 Infant Brother:  Elmer Hardwick

1 Sister:  Mary Louise Hardwick

A private memorial service and committal will be held at the convenience of the Hardwick family.
