Harold “Ed” Hoy, age 78, of N913 Hwy 41, Rapid River, MI died Thursday afternoon September 8, 2005 at home following a lengthy illness with cancer.

Harold was born May 14, 1927 in Trenary, MI the son of Peter Lyman and Ida “Amanda” (Flinn) Gregg Hoy. He married the former Loretta Thill on November 11, 1950 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fayette. They resided in Fayette until 1954 when they moved to Skandia. They moved to their current location in Trenary in 1959.

Ed worked at Cliff Dow Chemical Plant in Marquette, Ishpeming Steel Co, and retired from the Alger County Road Commission in 1989. He was an avid hunter, loved riding his ATV, playing cards, horseshoes and he especially loved his family gatherings at his home.

He also enjoyed dancing, especially the polka. Ed was a member of the Trenary Senior Citizens and St. Rita’s Catholic Church.

Great Grandchildren: Corrine Rassmussen of Green Bay, WI; Coltan Burgland of Green Bay, WI; Gage Hoy of Harvey, MI

Brothers and Sister: Fred Hoy of Gladstone, MI; Arilla (Hoy) Kourany of Trenary, MI; Arther and Bonnie (Gregg) Hoy of York Town, IN.

Ed’s family will receive friends on Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Parish prayers will follow at 7:30 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial services celebrating the life of Harold “Ed” Hoy will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Trenary with Rev. Jacek Wtyklo officiating. Burial will follow at the Mathias Township Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the St. Rita’s Church Fellowship Hall.
