Lorraine E. Roberts, age 86, of Delta County, died early Friday morning, September 2nd, 2005 at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers where she was currently residing.

Lorraine was born July 4th, 1919 at Bay View Location in Wells Twp, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Grosskapt) Harbath and was raised in the Bay View Location and was a lifelong Delta County resident.

She married William H. Roberts December 16th, 1939 at St. Anne Parish in Wells and he preceded her in death November 20th, 1992.

She was employed as a matron and as a cook at the Delta County Sheriffs Department for a period of time and was also self-employed with “We Wash It Laundry” for a number of years. Together with her husband, ”Bill”, Lorraine owned and operated the “Hi-Fi Youth Club” in Gladstone during part of the 1960’s.

In her leisure, she enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and reading. In addition, she enjoyed reading sections of the Bible and was a longtime member of St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church of Rapid River.

Lorraine E. Roberts’ survivors include:

2 Sons- Joseph (Karan) Roberts of Gladstone, MI; William Roberts of Trenary, MI

1 Daughter- Marilyn Kroll of Cornell, MI

3 Grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by:

2 brothers- Irving and Carlie Harbath; and 2 sisters, Irma Gillespie and Anne Vanlerberghe

The family of Lorraine E. Roberts will receive friends on Wednesday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services celebrating Lorraine’s life will follow on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Paustian officiating. Luncheon will follow services at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Gladstone. The Roberts family respectfully requests memorials be directed to St. Paul or St. Martin Evangelical Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County.
