Cheryl Emily Sandstrom, age 56, of 2405 Deerpath Drive Lindenhurst, IL. and former Gladstone resident, died quietly at her home following a long battle with pancreatic cancer with her loved ones surrounding her.
Cheryl was born in Munising, MI January 21, 1949 to Maynard and Emma Robbins. She graduated from Munising Mather High in 1967. Cheryl had worked for the city of Menomonee as a data processing supervisor from 1979 to 1990, for Luce County Ambulance Service as a bookkeeping clerk from 1992 to 1997 and at Bay Bank of Gladstone as an account service representative from 1998 until the time of her illness in 2004. Cheryl enjoyed the little things in life, the smell of sheets hung outside, tinkering with her flowers and bushes in her yard, giggles from her kids and grandkids, campfires and taking walks with her dog, Buddy. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Gladstone and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3701.
Cheryl is survived by her daughter, Carin (Cal) Kveton, her son, John (Jenny) Colburn, Three step sons, Derek (Becky) Sandstrom, Ryan (April) Sandstrom and Bradley Sandstrom, Six grandchildren, Rachael, Samantha, Joel, Jay, Carly and Breanne. She is also survived by her mother, Emma, Two brothers, Maynard (Marlene) Robbins and Gary Robbins, Two sisters, Arlene (Duane) Posont and Yvonne Robbins, Step brother, William (Cheryl) Robbins Jr. and Step sister Sandy Heinz and in-laws, the Donald Sandstrom Sr. family and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Cheryl was preceded in death by, her husband, Donald Sandstrom Jr., her father, Maynard Robbins Sr. and her stepfather William Robbins Sr.
Family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00PM to 3:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Cheryl Sandstrom will take place on Sunday, at 1:00PM, at the First Lutheran Church of Gladstone with Pastor Jonathan Schmidt officiating. Committal will be in the Mathias Twp. Cemetery in Trenary.
