David Ronald LaCosse, age 64, of 155 South 29th Street, Lot 89, Gladstone, MI died Sunday afternoon November 27, 2005 at home following a lengthy illness.
David was born September 21, 1941 in Escanaba the son of Wilfred and Margaret (Johnson) LaCosse. He was raised in Perkins and was a 1960 graduate of Perkins High School. Following graduation, David served in the U.S. Army Reserves and he was called up to active duty in 1968 and was stationed at Fort Eustis, Virginia. He was honorably discharged in 1969. After his return to Perkins he began his logging career working for his father’s trucking company. He eventually took over the family business which became David LaCosse and Son Trucking. David retired in 2005 due to his illness.
David was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone and the Michigan Association of Timbermen. David loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his spare time hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, camping and x-country skiing. His other hobbies included bowling and going out for meals. His family was very important to him and he especially cherished spending time with his grandchildren “Bucky” and “Girlfriend”. He also enjoyed being the grill cook at family cookouts.

His wife Wanda (Thorbahn) who he married November 2, 1963 at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Gladstone.

2 Brothers: Melvin (Donna) LaCosse of Cornell and Victor (Marilyn) LaCosse of Rock
1 Sister: Bonnie Phalen of Gladstone
2 Grandchldren: Tyler and Sarah Smith of Sobiewski, WI
Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
His 3 walking partners: Pepper, Shelvie and Macy
David was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Margaret.
David’s family will receive friends on Thursday from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of David Ronald LaCosse will follow at 4:00 P.M. at the First Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Schmidt officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
