Dwayne Feathers

Dwayne H. “D.J.” Feathers Jr., age 26, of 28 North Bluff Drive, Gladstone died unexpectedly Sunday January 29, 2006 in Rapid River.

Dwayne was born April 7, 1979 in Escanaba the son of Dwayne and Cherie (Mackie) Feathers Sr., Dwayne was raised in Gladstone and he was a 1997 graduate of Gladstone High School. While at Gladstone High he excelled in Mr. Ebner’s automotive class where he received the Student of the Year award in Automotive Repair. His knowledge of working on automobiles had friends and others bringing their automobiles to the high school for Dwayne to work on. Dwayne received an automotive repair scholarship to continue his education at Northwestern University in Lima, Ohio where he was on the Dean’s list for academic achievement.

Dwayne returned to Gladstone where he worked as a conductor for Wisconsin Central Railroad which later became C.N. Railroad. He was currently working for L.S. & I. Railroad in Ishpeming, MI. He also had owned and operated for a short period of time Auto Image Detailing and Window Tinting in Escanaba.

Dwayne was a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone, Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians and the U.P. White Tails Association. He enjoyed helping people and had a love for music especially John Lennon and the Beatles. His hobbies included snowmobiling, working on cars and working. His beautiful and infectious smile will be greatly missed by all those who know and love him. Survivors include:

Mother: Cherie (Jerry) Drossard of Gladstone

Grandparents: Judy (Jim Hebert) Mackie of Rapid River; Courtney (Judy) Mackie of Gladstone; Iola Feathers of Rapid River; Jean and Bill O’Connell of Escanaba; Rose Paloquin of Escanaba

Great Grandmother: Mary Boyer of Rapid River

2 half brothers: Joe and Tim Feathers of Rapid River

1 step brother: Jason (Amber) Drossard of Gladstone

Numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins

Dwayne’s family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Native American services will follow at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial services celebrating the life of Dwayne H. “D.J.” Feathers will follow at 6:00 P.M. at the All Saints Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Emmett Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
