Marie “Marcella” LaCasse, age 87, of 5162 18th Road Soo Hill, died Friday morning January 6, 2006 at the Country Acres Adult Foster Care Home in Gladstone.
Marcella was born January 1, 1919, in Schaffer, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Charboneau) Michell. She was raised in Schaffer and attended the Schaffer schools. On June 7, 1937, Marcella married Charles LaCasse and together they made their home in the Soo Hill area. Marcella lived in the U.P. for all of her life and worked as a homemaker, keeping her house and raising her family. She enjoyed playing cards and going to bingo. Marcella was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the St. Anthony Ladies Guild in Wells and loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include: 1 Son: Ronald (Judy) LaCasse of Soo Hill, MI
1 Brother: James (Kay) Michell of Milwaukee, WI
1 Sister: Donna (Vic) Frossard of Bark River, MI
2 Grandchildren: Troy and Lisa LaCasse
2 Great-grandchildren: Katie LaCasse and Nathan Feathers
Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
In addition to her parents, Joseph and Mary and her husband Charles, Marcella was preceded in death by: 6 Brothers: Leo, LLeweyan, Ernest, Roy, Arnold and Joseph
3 Sisters: Beatrice Skowland, Alvern Villeneuve and Cecile Turk
1 Grandson: Ronald Charles LaCasse in 1975
The LaCasse family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Marie “Marcella” LaCasse will follow visitation, at 6:00PM, at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells with Fr. Rick Courier of the St. Anthony and St. Thomas Churches officiating. Luncheon will be served following funeral services in the St. Anthony Parish Hall. Committal will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the LaCasse Family with arrangements.
