Paul J. Erickson, age 93 of 217 Dakota Ave. #312; Gladstone (Bayview Manor) and former longtime Stonington area resident, died Thursday morning, February 23rd, 2006 at St Francis Hospital in Escanaba where he was a patient since February 19th.

Paul was born July 5th, 1912 in Gladstone, the son of John and Anna Erickson who were Swedish immigrants to Delta County, and he resided in Stonington most of his life. He married the former Dorothy H. Leadman March 31st, 1945 in Escanaba and she survives. Paul and Dorothy relocated to Gladstone approximately 24 years ago.

Paul had a love of the outdoors and was employed as a woodsman much of his working life.
Also, in earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and walking. What’s more, playing cards was a past-time he took serious pleasure in. His family has great respect and love for him and his children appreciate all the wonderful care their mother gave Paul during his times of illness.

3 Sons: Paul Erickson, Jr. of Clarkston, MI; Robert (Barb) Erickson of Escanaba; Glenn (Linda) Erickson of Rapid River

2 Daughters-Beverly (Joseph) Columb of Rapid River; Bonnie (Raymond) Collins of Escanaba

9 Grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Eleanor; daughter-in-law, Kathie Erickson; son-in-law, David Kee,; granddaughter, Samantha Erickson; three brothers, Roy, Arvo, and Nester Erickson;and by two sisters, Ellen Armstrong and Nima Erickson.

The family of Paul J. Erickson will receive friends on Sunday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Service celebrating his life will follow on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with David Mason, LLM of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Stonington officiating. Luncheon will follow services at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River. Burial will be in the Lakewood Cemetery; Stonington.
