Denise (LaChapelle) Laird, age 46, of 4804 26th Road, Gladstone (Brampton), died Wednesday afternoon February 22, 2006, at the St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Denise was born July 15, 1959, at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, the daughter of Frances and Janet (Nicholas) LaChapelle.  She was a graduate of the Gladstone schools and furthered her education, receiving her associate degree, at the Bay de Noc Community College, in Escanaba.  In 1975, Denise married Christopher Laird and together, the couple resided throughout the world during Chris’ enlistment in the United States Air Force.  Denise eventually relocated to Rock, MI and resided there until the mid 1990’s.  She then moved to Cornell for a few years and then to Gladstone in 2001.  Denise met her fiancé, Jeff Frost, in August of 2005 and had been engaged for a short period of time before discovering her illness.  Throughout her life, Denise worked primarily as a homemaker, raising her family.  She was also employed for Americorp, Miss Dig, Citgo, Elmer’s County Market and other various employers throughout the community.  She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and C.S.I. (Crime Scene Investigations) and collecting Betty Boop memorabilia.  Denise adored her grandchildren and loved to spend time with her family.

3 Daughters:  Christy (Carl) Servant of Gladstone, MI; Bobby (Troy) Bizeau of Gladstone, MI; Kelly Laird of LaValle, WI

6 Sisters:  Dawn (Ernie) Desilets of Hyde, MI; Dana (Robert) Graham of Tennessee; Debbie (Dale) Anderson of Escanaba, MI; Diana (Joe) Anderson of Escanaba, MI; Francene (Joe) Millender of Victorville, CA; LeAnn LaChapelle of Washington

Daughter-in-law: Kelly LaChapellle of Escanaba, MI

Also listed among the surviving family are 8 grandchildren, Denise’s fiancé, Jeff Frost and his son Jeffery Frost, special friend Jan Coyle and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.

Denise’s mother, Janet, son, Jeremy (Laird) LaChapelle and grandson, Dalton Servant preceded her in death. 

Funeral services celebrating the life of Denise (LaChapelle) Laird will be held on Monday, at 1:30PM, at the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Escanaba, with Pastor Jon Woodward of the Cornerstone Community Church officiating.  Luncheon will follow in the Our Savior Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.  The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Laird family with arrangements.
