Bev Larson

Bev Larson, age 76, of 1205 Washington Avenue, died Tuesday afternoon March 28, 2006, at the Christian Park Health Care Facility in Escanaba.

Bev was born February 6, 1930, in Escanaba, the daughter of Victor and June (Dausey) Goodreau.  She was raised in Escanaba and attended and graduated from the Escanaba High School in 1948.  On October 9, 1948, Bev married Mel Larson at the First Methodist Church in Escanaba.  Together Bev and Mel made their home in Escanaba and in 1952, the couple constructed their new residence on Washington Avenue where they resided and raised their family.  In Bev’s younger years, she worked at the Hoyler Tea Room, where she first met Mel.  She also worked as a pharmacist assistant at the West End Drug Store for many years before giving up her job to stay at home and raise her family.  Bev was a life long resident of Escanaba.  She enjoyed playing cards, tending her flowers in her flower garden and attending her grandchildren’s school events.  Bev and Mel spent 57 happy years together enjoying each other’s company and traveling throughout the U.P. as well as the entire United States. 

Survivors include:

1 Son:  Greg (Joan) Larson of Sheboygan, WI

1 Daughter in law:  Abbi Larson of Gladstone, MI

1 Brother in law:  Tom Bell Sr. of Brampton, MI

8 Grandchildren:  Charla (John) Menard, Joshua Larson, Sarah Larson, Jacque Cavanaugh, Joseph Cavanaugh, Jerica Cavanaugh, all of Sheboygan, WI, Kalan (Kay) Larson of Chapel Hill, NC and Brittany Larson of Gladstone, MI.

Also surviving are 2 nieces, 1 nephew and many cousins and friends. 

Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and June, son, Blane Larson and sisters, Jackie Bell and Joy Butz.   

Family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:30PM to 5:30PM at the First United Methodist Church in Escanaba.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Bev Larson will follow visitation, at 5:30PM, at the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mary Laub officiating.  Luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.  Committal will be held on Monday at 10:00AM at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.  The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Larson family with arrangements.  Contributions in Bev’s name may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance or to the First United Methodist Church.  Envelopes will be provided by the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home.
