Elizabeth H. Vanderlinden, age 96, of 8308 0.85 Road, Gladstone, died Tuesday evening March 28, 2006 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba where she was a resident.

Elizabeth was born May 26, 1909 in Gladstone the daughter of Alphonse and Sylvia (DeJonghe) Vermeulen. She was raised in Gladstone and married Gilbert Vanderlinden and they resided in Ishpeming from 1942 to 1952 while Gilbert worker in the iron mines. They returned to Gladstone in 1952 where they made their residence. Elizabeth loved hunting, fishing and camping with her husband and she enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and attending rummage sales. She cherished her garden and always looked forward to her fresh grown tomatoes. Her family remembers her always helping people in a time of need. She was a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone.

Survivors include:

2 Sons: Ronald (Terry Decker) Vanderlinden and Robert (Kathleen) Vanderlinden both of Gladstone

2 Daughters: Gladys (Kenneth) Gunsauls of California and Betty Roberts of Gladstone

1 Sister: Anna Kersen of Key Largo, FL

11 Grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert in 1995 and her grandson Michael Vanderlinden in 2002.

Elizabeth’s family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Elizabeth H. Vanderlinden will follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Arnold Grambow of All Saints Church in Gladstone officiating. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
