Nona L. Goodman, age 81, of 9081 Bayshore Drive (Kipling Location) died Saturday, April 15th, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. She previously was a patient at the Christian Park Village.
Nona was born August 17th, 1924 in Lima, Wisconsin, the daughter of Irish decendents of Perceval and Veronica (Cummings) Downey. She was raised in Whitewater, Wisconsin, graduated from Whitewater High School and later married Joseph R. Goodman on June 26th, 1948 at St. Patrick Church in that same community.
Nona and “Joe” subsequently relocated to the Gladstone area where they resided since. “Joe” Goodman preceded her in death on August 17th 1981.
Nona Goodman was a member of All Saints Church. She was an avid Detroit Lions fan and also enjoyed playing “Bingo”. In addition, Nona was fond of cooking, baking, bird-watching and gardening. Her family especially remembers her ability to easily grow “African Violets” and “Christmas cacti”. Most importantly, they will never forget her love of family and her concern for them at all times. Furthermore, spending time with her grandchildren was particularly important to her and she was be sadly missed by them.

3 Sons: Dan Goodman of Kipling; Gary (Linda) Goodman of Marquette; Tom (Jan) Goodman of Masonville
1 Daughter: Louise (Jay) Thomas of Wallace
1 Twin Sister: Nora Christen of Elkhorn, WI
7 Grandchildren: Greg Goodman; Christa (Ryan) Hubbard; Casey Goodman; Chad Goodman; Sara Goodman; Ryan and Erik Thomas
Nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, “Joe” Goodman, she was preceded in death by her parents.
The family of Nona L. Goodman will receive friends on Tuesday at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services celebrating her life will follow on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Arnold Grambow officiating. Luncheon will follow services at the All Saints Church Parish Hall. Burial will be in the Fernwood Cemetery.
