Robert Clark “Bob” Johnson, age 63, of 9977 U.65 Lane, Rapid River, MI died of an apparent heart attack on Wednesday April 19, 2006 at work.
Robert was born March 1, 1943 in Baldwin, WI the son of Erick and Ruth (Bloomgrin) Johnson. He was raised in Glenwood, WI and he was a 1960 graduate of Glenwood High School. Following his graduation he served in the U.S. Army for four years and he was stationed in Korea for one of those years. Bob was the Director of Public Works for the past eight years for the City of Gladstone. Prior to
moving to Gladstone he served in the same capacity for the cities of Dubuque, Iowa, Bay City, MI, Juneau, AK, Plainwell, MI and East Jordan, MI. Bob was united in marriage to the former Jennifer Thornton in Traverse City, MI in 1989.
Bob was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone and also the Gideon’s. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he enjoyed woodworking.

1 Brother: Mark Johnson of Baldwin, WI
1 Sister: Linda (Bob) Shaw of Hopkins, MN
4 Grandchildren: Holly, Ben, Luke and Eric
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
He was preceded in death by his father Erick, sister Julie Klostrich and a grandson Christian Piggott.
Bob’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Grace Baptist Church in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert C. Johnson will follow at 4:00 P.M. at the Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Patrick officiating. Luncheon will follow services in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Rapid River Cemetery in Rapid River. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes are assisting the Johnson family.
