Monica Lavolette

Monica “Monnie” Lavolette, age 89, of 501 South Lincoln Road #107 (North Woods Assisted Living), died Sunday morning April 9, 2006 at the St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

Monnie was born February 25, 1917, in Garden, the daughter of Thomas and Emily (Chartier) Truckey.  Monnie was raised in Garden and attended and graduated from the Garden schools.  On May 16, 1940, Monnie married Jess Lavolette and together the couple made their home and raised their family in Escanaba.  In addition to raising her family and supporting her husband Jess’ career as the Vice President and Secretary of the Northern Michigan Bank of Escanaba, Monnie was also employed for many years as a nurse’s aid at the St. Francis Hospital.  Monnie was a member and volunteered many hours of her time to the Escanaba Elks Club Auxiliary, the Escanaba Women’s Club and the Hospital Auxiliary.  She was an avid bridge card player and enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the world.  She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include:

2 Sons:  Tom Lavolette of Lansing, MI

Dick (Patti) Lavolette of Dimondale, MI

1 Daughter:  Linda Lavolette of Rapid River, MI

2 Sisters:  Leota Agett of South Carolina

Delores “Pat” (Thomas) Graham of Lansing, MI

Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Scott (Stephanie), Sally (Ron), Susan, Jess and Michelle, 2 great grandchildren, Bobby and Gabrielle and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Monnie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Emily, her husband Jess and 1 brother, Pete Truckey.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00PM to 2:00PM at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba.  Funeral services celebrating the life of Monnie Lavolette will follow visitation, at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home, at 2:00PM.  The Lavolettes would like to extend an invitation to join their family for a gathering, to continue visitation, with Monnie’s friends at the North Woods Assisted Living Facility, located in Escanaba, following the visitation at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home.  Contribution in Monnie’s name may be directed to the Escanaba Public Library.  Envelopes will be available at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home.  Committal will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
