Matthew Malchow

Matthew F. “Matt” Malchow, age 32, of 10424 South Main Street; Rapid River, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 .

Matt was born October 6th, 1973 in Boise, Idaho, and he is the son of John and Donna (Norton) Malchow and lived in numerous locations in the United States while his father was serving with the U.S. Air Force. He and his family also resided in Okinowa and Germany while his family traveled with the military. Matt was a graduate of the Powers North Central High School, Class of 1992.

He and his wife, Jodi, have lived in the Rapid River area since October. They were married April 26th, 1997 at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba.

Matt Malchow was most recently employed as a multi-gaming dealer in the local gaming industry. 

Matt had a lifelong enjoyment of comic books and had also enjoyed swimming, fishing, and camping. His family and friends will always remember him as the most devoted, dedicated, and loving father of his children and as a most wonderful companion to his wife and the mother of his children.

In addition to his wife, Jodi, Matt  survivors include:

3 wonderful sons- Patrick, age 8; Jacob, age 6, and Cole, Age 4

Parents- John and Donna Malchow of Wilson, MI

Sister- Rebecca Malchow of St. Cloud, FL

In-laws, Pat and Emily McGeary of Rapid River

Matt also leaves to survive nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family of Matthew F. Malchow will receive friends at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Services celebrating Matt’s life will follow on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home with Rev. William Rafuse of the Congregational Church of Rapid River officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. Internment will be in Oconto, Wisconsin.

Memorials in Matt’s behalf may be directed to the family for the benefit of his children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral Home.
