Laura E. “Sodie” Seymour, 74, of Escanaba entered eternal life on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006. Sodie was born August 12th, 1931 in Nahma, MI to Alex and Elsie (Dayson) Seymour and attended school in Harbor Springs.

After living in Milwaukee for a period of time, she relocated to Escanaba where she resided since. Her family remembers Sodie for enjoying “Bingo”, going to the casino, playing dart-ball, cooking, shopping, listening to country music, doing jig-saw puzzles, but most importantly, spending time with family and friends. She was also an avid Detroit Lions fan and was a member of the Sault Tribe Elders Program.

2 Daughters-Laurie (Raymond) LaFreniere of Escanaba, Merri (Bryan) Trombley of Escanaba

2 Sons- Darrin (Julie) LeClaire of Escanaba, Kevin (Tuesday) LeClaire of Escanaba

3 Brothers- Alex (Beverly) Seymour, Jr. of Milwaukee, WI; Alfred (Janice) Seymour of Gladstone; Donald Seymour of Escanaba

Long-time companion, Claude Mead of Escanaba and his son, Mike Mead, of Escanaba

15 Grandchildren- Jennifer (Bryon), Ashley (Jackson), Daniel, Raymond (Amara), Missy, Terry Jr., Jacob, Dylan, Chris, Ryan, Katlyn, Brandon, Sabrina, Britany, and Darrin, Jr.

3 Great-grandchildren; Ariana, Kylee, and Tyler and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Seymour, two sisters, Nellie and Carol Ann, and by the father of her children, William LeClaire.

The family of Laura E. “Sodie” Seymour will receive friends on Friday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Services celebrating her life will follow on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Emmitt Norden and Rev. Mary G. Laub of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Luncheon will follow services at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery; Escanaba. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Seymour family.
