Merlin “Papa” Wennesheimer, age 82, of 11711 M-35 Hwy, Perkins died Saturday, May 13, 2006 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Merlin was born December 10, 1924 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Frank and Norrine (Fonder) Wennesheimer. He married Mary Lancour on October 10, 1983 in Elkhorn, WI. Merlin spent most of his life living in Wisconsin until he and Mary moved into Mary’s grandmothers house in Perkins. Merlin was a heavy equipment operator for Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee for over 30 years until he retired in 1975. He served his country proudly as a Seaman First Class in the United States Navy during WW II. He enjoyed gardening and was a hobby farmer. The most important thing in his life was his family. He was a patient, loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His greatest joy was singing to his grandchildren.

2 Sons:Rodney (Kelly) Riesland of Marquette, MI; Zachary (Sarah) Wennesheimer of Escanaba, MI
2 Daughters:Roberta (James) Ehrhart of Kansasville, WI; Ila (Greg) LeJeune of Hancock, MI
9 Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Ross (stationed on the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk), Robert, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Logan, Austin, Noah and Ethan
1 Great Granddaughter: Madelyn
Numerous Nieces and Nephews
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Private services and visitation will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date.
