Alice M. Collins, age 82, of 155 29th Street #76, Gladstone, died Wednesday June 28, 2006 at the Christian Park Health Care Facility in Escanaba.
Alice was born March 10, 1924, in Mackinaw City, the daughter of James and Rachel Wehner. She was raised in Mackinaw City and attended and graduated from the Mackinaw City High School. On June 16, 1944, Alice married Kenneth Collins in San Francisco, CA and together the couple relocated to Escanaba where they made their home and raised their family. In addition to raising her two children, Denis and Sandy, Alice was employed at Montgomery Ward, in the shipping and receiving department. Alice worked for Montgomery Ward until her retirement, at which time, she went to work as a secretary for Collins’ Appliance Service, assisting her husband with their family business. Alice finally moved to the Gladstone area where she had resided, for the past 8 years, until moving to Christian Park in April of this year. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and is remembered for her crocheted baby blankets that she made for each of her grandchildren. Over the years, Alice enjoyed gardening and going camping with her family. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

1 Son: Denis (Sue) Collins of Escanaba, MI
4 Grandchildren: Jackie (Rick) Chong, Jeff (Jen) Vallier, Tammy Crossman and Kirby Collins
1 Son in law: Ernie (Maria) Vallier
Also listed among the surviving family are 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, James and Rachel and her husband Kenneth, Alice was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Sandy Vallier in 1992 and brothers and sisters.
Memorial services honoring the life of Alice M. Collins will be held at a later date at the convenience of the Collins family. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Collins family with arrangements.
