Harvey K. Knipfel, Sr. age 88, of Escanaba, died Wednesday morning, June 21st, 2006 at the Christian Park Health Care Center in Escanaba where he was a patient for the previous year.
Harvey was born July 13th, 1917 in Neenah, Wisconsin the son of Louis and Minnie Knipfel and was raised in the Neenah, Menasha areas and has permanently resided in Escanaba since 1985.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was a member of the VFW of Neenah. Harvey married the former Donna Mae Blixt and she preceded him in death September 17th, 1997.
During most of his working life, he was employed as an electrical engineer in the construction field until his retirement. In his leisure, Harvey enjoyed hunting and leather crafts. However, spending time with his grandchildren was the greatest source of enjoyment for him.

5 Daughters- Katie (Nick) Borus of Winneconne, WI; Brenda Knipfel of Antigo, WI; Debra (Steve) Hohn of Bowler, WI; Sandra Knipfel of Wisconsin; Lana Knipfel of Wisconsin
1 Sister- Mercedith of Washington State
22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
The family of Harvey K. Knipfel will receive friends on Monday at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home in Escanaba from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Military Rites celebrating his life will follow on Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home with the Delta County Veterans Council. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield, Wisconsin. The Skradski-Boyce Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Knipfel family
